Revised Course Rating

Wales Golf have undertaken a rigorous assessment of our 3 courses and the course and slope ratings have increased as follows:

White course rating (Men): 66.4 Slope rating: 111

Yellow course rating (Men): 64.6 Slope rating: 108

Red course rating (Ladies): 68.8 Slope rating: 118

By means of an example: Previously, a male playing off the white tees with a handicap index of 18.0 would receive 14 shots as a course handicap, following the latest changes they will now receive 16 shots.

These changes are effective from Thursday 4th July. The committee will also be taking the opportunity to review the Stroke Indexes prior to ordering new score cards. Revised course and playing handicap charts are now displayed at the Clubhouse.

Away success for Knighton Ladies:

In a field of 60 pairs taking part at Burghill Valley Golf Club, June Williams and Janet Hinton (Tosh) came in second place losing on the back 9, a very commendable result in a large field. Further away success for Knighton Ladies was achieved in the Ladies Texas Scramble at Llandrindod Wells Golf Club by the Ladies team of Chris Sutton Janet Hinton and June Williams with a respectable third place finish.

CHANGES TO COURSE HANDICAP CALCULATION

From the first of April, there are a number of changes to the WHS handicap system that we are required to implement by our national body. The most significant of which for KGC will be a 'course rating minus par' adjustment when calculating your course Handicap.

In effect the following par reductions to your course handicap will be required on our course:

White Tees (Gentlemen): minus 2.5

Yellow Tees (Gentlemen): minus 5.4

Red Tees (Ladies): minus 3.2
